ARTISTS STATEMENT

Meg Watson's oil paintings are dream-like journeys to other worlds of imagination, where figures and symbols occupy a visionary landscape.

They have a narrative mysterious quality and reflect both the ancient and modern, taking us back and forward in myth and time. Some of her paintings remind
us of a distant past, evoking memories and instincts buried deep in us all. Meg is also interested in healing and the relationship between animals and people,
and responds with hybrid figures in paintings sometimes. Her interest in non-western art is reflected in her sensuous use of colour, texture and symbolism.
