WOULD YOU LIKE TO OWN A SHARE IN BRITAIN'S FIRST RAW ARTS CENTRE?

ARTESIAN IS OFFERING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST IN THE FIRST RAW ARTS CENTRE IN THE UK!

To do justice to the many wonderful artists in the UK, Britain needs a RAW ARTS CENTRE. ARTESIAN aims to play a crucial role by establishing the UK's FIRST RAW ARTS CENTRE
in Edinburgh, the beautiful capital city of Scotland.

ARTESIAN is currently planning to purchase its first premises, to house the Artesian office, as well as to provide some permanent exhibition space, a meeting place for artists and supporters, and a small shop. Premises in Edinburgh are at a premium, with properties increasing in value at a higher rate than almost anywhere else in the UK - between 5 and 14% per annum over the past 5 years.

ARTESIAN is inviting you to be part of this exciting new venture. We invite you to invest any amount, in units of £5k (equivalent to US$7k or 8k Euros). Such an investment would be for a minimum of 5 years. ARTESIAN has already been pledged 5 such units, amounting to £25k. The capital appreciation on this investment is likely to be substantial. All investments will be arranged through an established legal office, supported by our accountants, Whitelaw Wells, Edinburgh.

IN RETURN, you as an investor in the UK's First RAW ARTS CENTRE, will receive:

• Capital appreciation on your investment of up to 14% p.a.

• Invitations to all Artesian events, including exhibition openings, gatherings, etc based in the new Raw Arts Centre; as well as to visits to visionary environments etc where you can see fantastic art work and meet many of the artists

• 10% discounts on all purchases from ARTESIAN, including art works, books, magazines, and videos etc

• Your name published in the Magazine, on the Web Site, and in the Raw Arts Centre as a Visionary Investor

• Free membership of the Visionary Investors' Group, entitling you to receive, free of charge,a piece of RAW ART WORK annually, to add to your own private collection of RAW ART!

ARTESIAN ARTS is a Scottish recognised charity run by and for visionary, intuitive, grassroots and 'outsider' artists. Many of these artists (us!) have lived a life excluded from the world of mainstream art, and struggle with poverty, problems with physical or mental health, or homelessness, some of us have learning difficulties, while others follow our own unique, often lonely, artistic path. Out of our struggles comes art that is raw, powerful, yet accessible because it touches the spirit and cannot fail to inspire.

ARTESIAN exists to promote this art and to provide a forum where the voices of the artists can be heard. Since its inception in 1999 ARTESIAN has established a regular magazine, an active website and on-line gallery, an outreach programme, and a small publishing press for artists' books, in addition to holding six highly successful group exhibitions.

ARTESIAN is part of a world-wide movement that is currently stronger in the United States, Russia, Australia, and Europe than in the UK.

ARTESIAN has received phenomenal response from artists, community arts projects,
and individuals from all over the world for our work.

Now is the time to create the only RAW ARTS CENTRE in the UK

- a national centre that will gain world-wide acclaim.

The founders of ARTESIAN knew that there was a need for a forum for the outsider artists of Scotland. The need is far greater than anticipated and extends way beyond the border.

The responses to ARTESIAN's exhibitions and the Magazine have been almost overwhelming,
as suggested by the quotes below:

"BRITAIN HAS BEEN WAITING 300 YEARS FOR ARTESIAN!" J.H. Self-taught artist

"I love the magazine. As I looked through it I got such good feelings. It was as though I'd met a group of friends who were exactly on the same wavelength as me and felt excited about the same things that excite me. In the pages of Artesian I felt that I'd come home to my spiritual and creative birthplace..." V.P. Self-taught artist (has had schizophrenia and depression for 25 years)

"More than anything else in the magazine, something which touched me deeply, was the information on all your contributors. For the first time ever I realised I wasn't alone!!!!! All the original, individual creative people working within the same area as myself, seeing things from their perspective, yet all connected by the same vision! I don't feel like an alien anymore!!" M.O. Self-taught artist from London, now planning to move to Edinburgh

"Reading Artesian is really the first time that I have seen so much wonderful proof that there is a movement to support and encourage the power, magic and potency of creating. It was great to see so many people from all walks of life, doing their own thing outside of the contemporary art scene. I was very inspired reading the magazine and had a feeling of belonging to something rather than feeling strung out on a limb with my creativity. Thanks very much." B.R. Artist, poet and writer

"I am honoured to have met you. My client was absolutely glowing as we left your show. The inspiration and encouragement that you provided is well commended ... I appreciate all that you have done as far as motivating and inviting us to be included in your organisation." J.O., Project Worker, Edinburgh homeless project.

"As the editor of Raw Vision magazine since 1989, I have been constantly involved in the world of art and creation. I can state quite categorically that the work supported by Artesian is of high quality and Artesian plays an important role in bringing new art to a wider public. Artesian has an important part to play in the field of education and information to the benefit of a world at large." John Maizels, world authority on Outsider Art, author, and editor of Raw Vision Magazine.

ARTESIAN PLANS FOR 2002

In 2002, ARTESIAN ARTS intends to:
1. Move the ARTESIAN office out of the charity founder's home into a shop/office in central Edinburgh to form the RAW ARTS CENTRE, as the first step towards establishing a permanent gallery.
Costs of purchasing suitable property covering a minimum of 100 sq m (1000 sq ft), including refurbishment and new upgraded computer equipment, will be ca. £80k (US$112k or 128k Euros).

2. Publish Issues 4 and 5 of Artesian Magazine in May and November.
Printing costs for each issue are £3k (US$4.2k or 4.8k Euros).

3. Hold our Second Scottish Arte Gras Festival of Visionary, Intuitive and Grassroots Arts in May/June, involving:
₯ at least 5 exhibitions in Edinburgh
₯ Collaboration with exhibitions mounted by ProjectAbility, the Annexe, and Sharmanka in Glasgow. Additional community arts projects from all over Scotland are expressing interest in participating in this new National Festival, and may yet join us this year.
Costs of mounting the Festival, including publicity, hiring of venues, curatorial fees, and transport are £6k (US$8.4k or 9.6k Euros).

4. Expand our web site and on-line gallery, making it as accessible as possible to users from all backgrounds.
Cost of this work will be ca. £2.5k (US$3.5k or 4k Euros).

You can help ARTESIAN in the following ways:

1. Invest in premises. Such an investment would be for a minimum of 5 years. You can invest any amount, in £5k units. ARTESIAN has already been pledged 5 such units, amounting to £25k. The capital appreciation on this investment is likely to be substantial.

2. Individually or collectively make a donation to ARTESIAN using Gift Aid, to help towards costs of printiung the Magazine, running the Festival, or expanding the Web Site.

3. Invest in the art displayed in our exhibitions or on-line. ARTESIAN will be setting up its own art shop during 2002. If 'Outsider Art' still looks alien, it is worth bearing in mind that the art now most highly valued began as a challenge to the art establishment of its time.
Outsider Art is THE art of the 21st century!
Thank you for your consideration.
