ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Mike is a retired GP who lives in Shetland, and makes driftwood sculptures. Some of his inspiration is taken from the island of Hascosay, half and hour by
kayak from his home in Yell where there is a supply of driftwood constantly replenished by the South- Easterly gales. Mike calls his work 'narrative collage'
as he finally felt free to express his opinions. Issues explored in his art work include profiteering merchants, overfishing, salmon farming, bigotry, false prophets,
exploitation and environmental concerns.
