STATEMENT
My
name is Julie Sheard. I'm 45 years old and married with 3 children.
I came late to art after all sorts of journeys through the years
and after the birth of my third child.
I
graduated from the University of Sunderland in 1998 with a first
class honours degree in sculpture (& drawing). Illness then
struck and left me too weak to work in 3D, but I began painting
some 18 months later when a healer suggested I paint in the colour
I was most unlikely to use (I had never used much colour) - so red
it was.
These
paintings have grown as my spiritual consciousness has risen - above
and beyond all considerations of career or success. As I searched
for a way to deal with frustration and anger, these images appeared
from deep within: they have grown alongside my Buddhist practice
and are directly related, as try to find the "sitting place"
within, that is never moved by external happenings. It is the search
for the Buddha Nature - the Unborn - the Unbecame.
