ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I started off painting still lives that came to me in dreams or from an object or two which seemed to come together into a 'story' that wanted to be told. After a while every still life had to have flowers or a plant in it. Then gradually the flowers and plants took over and the still life disappeared. Although I still do some paintings which are of real plants and flowers, my focus has become more abstract, using the lines and patterns of plants to make paintings and drawings which seem to be a direct translation of my dreaming thoughts.
